DEVADURGA continues to be transmitted by designer Hitoshi Shimazaki from his hometown of Amami Oshima with his own unique sense.
The highest mountain in the Himalayas, Everest, was called Deva Durga in Sanskrit.
Sacred mountain, meaning the top of the world.
With such a meaning in their brand name, we continue to propose unique outdoor styles using mud dyeing and indigo dyeing, which are also traditional crafts of Amami, from Japan to the world.
What is "mud dyeing"?
Amami Oshima, Kagoshima Prefecture boasts a world-class traditional industry [Oshima Tsumugi]
The dyeing method, which is one of the production processes and has a history of 1300 years.
The technique of dyeing everything by hand using "Techigi" that grows naturally in Amami Oshima and iron-rich mud that can only be made in Amami.
Since it does not use any chemical dyes, it is harmless to the environment and contains no allergens.
This unique dyeing method has many benefits such as deodorant effect and insect repellent effect.
